Patient Asks:
I had braces 20 years ago and my bottom teeth have shifted back to pre-brace position. On top I see a shift beginning. I am interested in the Invisalign. However, I still have my bottom wisdom teeth. Would those need to be removed first? Also, I have Metlife Dental Insurance through the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (basic coverage). I know that a portion of my son’s braces were covered, would I have any coverage available through my insurance for Invisalign? Expense is definitely a factor, but I am only 35 and I do not want to have crooked teeth the rest of my life!
To answer your question:
It is very difficult to determine if your wisdom teeth need to be removed without seeing thier position and evaluating their effects on the rest of your mouth. Invisalign has helped many people but before we can determine if you are a candidate we would need to see you and make that decision together. As far as your insurance is concerned you need to call Metlife and inquire if they do cover orthodontics for adults and up to what age. All insurance plans are different so you need to know all the details of your plan. Many plans that cover braces draw the line at a certain age, but some of them do cover adults. I would be happy to talk to you. I am in the office Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 7:30 – 5:00 (216-464-1700).
